Practical help can be part of a check-in. Medical-alert setup, basic phone or video-call help, picking up an agreed item, or another reasonable task can be included when appropriate and confirmed beforehand.
A structured, non-medical, room-by-room walkthrough informed by Senior Home Safety Specialist® training and Aging in Place Essentials® education. The goal is to identify common risks, accessibility concerns, and practical changes that may better support safe, independent living.
What the walkthrough looks at Safety + independence
Areas may include
- Interior and exterior walking areas, entries, stairs, railings, rugs, clutter, and trip hazards
- Lighting, bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchen, laundry, and frequently used spaces
- Fall prevention, mobility, accessibility, and aging-in-place considerations
- Fire safety and basic emergency-planning considerations
- Safety technology and medical-alert device considerations
- Environmental concerns that may affect someone living with memory changes

This is a non-medical home safety service, not an occupational therapy evaluation, building-code inspection, contractor inspection, or guarantee that every possible hazard will be identified.
After the Safety Check
Want ongoing local eyes on things?
The Home Safety Check can establish a baseline. Regular $50 check-ins can then help families stay aware of changes in the person or home over time.
Red Desert Check-In is expanding into practical CPR/AED education. Certification classes will open once instructor credentials and training-center requirements are active.

What exactly is Red Desert Check-In?
Red Desert Check-In provides non-medical, in-person support for people, homes, rentals, businesses, hospital situations, and practical concerns when you need someone local to go check, be present, and send a clear update afterward.
How much does a visit cost?
Standard visits are $50 for approximately 45–60 minutes. Recurring visit discounts may be available, and extra time or custom requests are confirmed in advance.
What do I receive after a visit?
You receive a written update after the visit, and photos when appropriate and authorized. The goal is to help you understand what was seen, how things seemed, and whether anything needs follow-up.
Do you provide medical care?
No. Red Desert Check-In is non-medical support only. This is not nursing care, medication management, medical decision-making, or emergency response.
Do you provide transportation?
No. Appointment support means meeting someone there, being present, and helping them feel supported before, during, or after the appointment. Transportation is not included.
Can visits be longer than an hour?
Sometimes. Most visits are approximately 45–60 minutes, but some caregiver relief visits and new parent support visits may be available up to 3 hours when arranged in advance. Extended hospital sitting may also be available in longer blocks by advance agreement.
Can you help with aging parents or family caregivers?
Yes. Red Desert Check-In offers People Check-Ins and Caregiver Support visits for aging adults, caregiver relief, recovery, hard seasons, and practical non-medical support.
Can you help with phones, apps, or medical alert setup?
Yes, for simple setup help. Practical Support can include basic help with phones, tablets, video calling, caregiver apps, reminders, and medical alert or safety device setup. It is not full IT support or device repair.
What is included in a Home Safety Check?
The $95 Home Safety Check is an approximately 60–90 minute, structured, non-medical walkthrough completed by a Senior Home Safety Specialist® (SHSS). I review the home room by room, including relevant exterior and entry areas, and document common fall and injury risks, accessibility concerns, lighting, stairs and railings, bathrooms, frequently used spaces, emergency-planning considerations, and other environmental factors that may affect safer aging in place. You receive written findings and practical recommendations afterward.
What does Senior Home Safety Specialist® (SHSS) mean?
Senior Home Safety Specialist® (SHSS) is a nationally recognized senior home-safety credential from Age Safe® America. The training covers room-by-room home safety assessment, fall and injury risk, aging-in-place modifications, fire and emergency safety, safety technology, dementia-related considerations, personal safety, and communicating recommendations to older adults and families. It does not make Red Desert Check-In a medical provider, occupational therapist, building inspector, or contractor.
What is Aging in Place Essentials® training?
Aging in Place Essentials® is professional training focused on helping older adults remain safely and independently at home. It covers home safety and modifications, accessibility, aging technology, health and wellness support, social connection, long-term planning, community resources, and communication with older adults and families. It complements my SHSS certification by helping me look beyond individual hazards and consider the broader picture of aging well at home. Red Desert Check-In remains a non-medical service.
Can I schedule recurring check-ins?
Yes. Recurring visits can be arranged for ongoing wellness, safety, caregiver support, or property check-ins. Discounted recurring pricing may be available depending on frequency and scope.
Are funding or reduced-fee options available?
Possibly. Some families may have caregiver-support funding, respite benefits, dependent-care benefits, or other approved assistance for qualifying services. Eligibility and reimbursement depend on the individual plan or program, and Red Desert Check-In cannot guarantee reimbursement. Receipts or visit documentation can be provided when needed. A limited number of reduced-fee or supported visits may also be available when possible.
Will you offer CPR classes?
Yes. CPR/AED instruction is planned for individuals, families, caregivers, small groups, and workplaces. Certification classes will open once the instructor credential and training-center requirements are active. Private family and mobile options are planned as part of Red Desert Check-In CPR & Preparedness.
